Little Genealogy; Portrait Hall, high ground floor

Oil on canvas, 131 x 259 cm, unidentified painter, inv. no. DT 189

The painted Little Genealogy exhibited in the hall of the high ground floor provides substantial information on the Trakošćan fort in the mid-18th century and shows the ancestors of Josip Kazimir Drašković. This painting from 1755 shows the appearance of the Trakošćan fort (on the left side) in a complex architectural ensemble. Compared with the depiction from the 17th century, a larger range of architectural elements is visible. The fortification complex on the east side continued from the southern tower through very high walls to the eastern tower to which the entrance part was connected, which was surrounded by ramparts that continued to the north. The western tower is not visible. All the buildings, including the ramparts, were covered, and the keep (central tower) had a large clock and ended with a Baroque roof.

Numerous mansards, even on the roofs of the keep, suggest a larger number of residents who lived in the fort. At that time, the foot of the castle was also well built, where there were larger outbuildings and a stone bridge, parts of which have been preserved to this day. It is assumed that at that time, a part of the banderia of Josip Kazimir Drašković was stationed in Trakošćan.

Vapnenac, klesano, dio luka 63 x 21 x 25 cm, 1592. godina
