Plaque with rhomboid decoration; entrance to the castle at the western tower

Grey limestone, carved, 20 x 42 cm, 13th – 15th century

The plaque is embedded into the structure of the southern wall of the entrance room at the western tower. In a simple profiled strip, a rhomboid decoration is embossed, which occupies the entire surface of the plaque. The rhomboid decoration belongs to the earlier phase of the castle (Gothic and Renaissance). If the question of the structural function of this decorative feature were resolved, its dating would also be facilitated. The second fragment is on the wall of a room on the second floor, it is identical in terms of decoration and dimensions and made of the same type of stone.
