Inscription plaque GD 1862; lower part of the southern wall

Sandstone, carved, 55 x 105 cm, 1862

In the Trakošćan Castle, there are several epigraphic monuments that provide information on construction interventions and renovations. The inscription plaque is embedded in the lower part of the southern outer curtain wall of the castle. It includes the following

inscription: G.D. 1862. The initials G.D. (Georgius Drašković) refer to Juraj VI Drašković, the owner of the castle. The year 1862 is the year of the start of the renovation and the intervention that began with the filling of the rocky slope of the southern part and the construction of a spacious terrace. In addition to the inscription, the plaque has only a simple edge profiling. The letters are partially worn out because of weathering.
