Kitchen, part of the former palas; lower ground floor

Inside the burg there was a palas – the living space of the nobles and administrators, i.e. castellans. It is a representative palas, and at the same time a reception space that emphasises the power of the owner. It is the only preserved medieval residential house of secular architecture in the continental part of Croatia. It had more rooms, compared with the rest of the burg, it had larger windows, better heating, a decorated interior and a more beautiful façade. Along with the bergfried, it is the oldest part of the castle, which extended over three floors. The castle kitchen is currently on the lower ground floor.
