Toilet and bathroom; hunting hall

The builders rationally used the wall structure for the installation of toilets, staircases, wardrobes, various niches, fireplaces and passages, among others. The interior was equipped with features such as niches in the thickness of the wall, stone benches in window niches, fireplaces and stoves, to name a few. The toilet had a protruded console feature of masonry on the outside or was completely integrated into the thickness of the wall as a shallow and narrow niche. Such interventions were also weak points of defence due to hollow and thin parts. Few of them have been preserved from the medieval period. The sanitary facilities of Trakošćan are from more recent times, but they still evoke the everyday life of the inhabitants of the burg.

In an effort to adapt life in the castle to modern standards and comfort, modifications were constant. Around 1925, the bathroom in the Hunting Hall was supplied with water and equipped with a bathtub, washbasin, faience bidet and ceramic floor tiles.
